The Lord Jesus gives us many different commands that we can fulfill far more easily if we are living in genuine community than if we are not. The Lord told us the Greatest Commandments in Matthew 22:37–40 and the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 and these are three burdens which we are should carry as believers who follow him.
God instructs us to carry the burden of helping everyone to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls and minds and to love our neighbor as ourselves and to make disciples of all nations.
These three burdens that Christ has given to all of us when we put our faith in him as our Lord and savior are ours to carry with him but his burden is light and his yoke is easy. Although these burdens seem daunting by our own strength to do anything about, through Christ living in us and through us living in genuine community we can do these things with relative ease. It can become a natural part of our life to be disciples who make disciples if we live in genuine community together.
Being a Christian means that Jesus is Lord which means that his commands are ultimate. They are above all of our desires and we are to live in genuine Community to help one another to align Our Lives with his instructions and with his lordship. This is why we live in genuine Community to help one another to follow Christ all the more. We live in genuine Community to be disciples and as we are Disciples of Jesus Christ we then go and make disciples who then go and make disciples.
Today during the fellowship lunch we will be discussing the following questions as we discuss what it looks like to live in genuine community.
#1. “What does living in genuine community mean to you?”
#2. “What would it look like for you to be living in genuine community with people at the church?
#3. What would it look like for this church to be a genuine community?
#4. What would you be willing to do, starting around March, to foster our church and the individuals in it living in genuine community?
#5. What next steps would the church need to take to live in genuine community?
Have a blessed week and may you become more like Him as you seek to live in genuine community with one another.
