A few weeks ago a group of people from the church went to see a movie about the song Even If by MercyMe and in this song the chorus says this. I know You're able and I know You can Save through the fire with Your mighty hand But even if You don't My hope is You alone I know the sorrow, and I know the hurt Would all go away if You'd just say the word But even if You don't My hope is You alone
In this song they are essentially crying out “Lord even if you don't move” my hope is still in you alone. In the story of heartbreak and disappointment and struggle that the movie showed, in the end it all turns out but throughout the dark days we saw the struggle, we saw how hard it is to worship when we don't remember that God is in control, that He is still worthy of praise even when life is a nightmare. Even when we seem tossed by the winds and waves God still is who we should put our hope and trust in. When the song played at the end of the movie I felt my heart breaking again and I was reminded of my desire to have a heart that worships God at all times. I want my heart to be aligned with this song. I want my worship to be aligned with this song. Worship is so much more than just singing a song, it's the heart behind it. Worship is an offering that is a sacrifice that comes from a tender heart even in moments of great difficulty. I want this truth to not be forgotten.
In our greatest times of struggle, in our deepest valleys, and also on the highest mountains the Lord wants us to offer him our worship. When we worship from a place of Happiness the Lord exalts with us and draws us near to him to celebrate with us but when we worship from a place of sorrow the Lord lifts us up and draws us near to him and gives us peace and comfort.
I want to encourage all of you with whatever is going on in all of your lives, I want to ask you what does it look like for you to offer worship to the Lord? Consider your life and ask yourself the honest question “What in my life have I not given to Him yet?” If you have given Him everything already then continue to do so but if not what is the Lord calling you to offer to him as an act of worship.
Have a blessed week and may you become more like Him as you seek to live your life in such a way that is holy and pleasing to the Lord.
